Need help drafting a message, translating a conversation, or finding fresh ideas? Rakuten Viber is making it easier with new ChatGPT-powered tools now built directly into the app.
Available for Viber users in the Philippines on iOS and Android, the features are designed to simplify everyday communication and productivity, with desktop access coming soon.
Among the most practical functionalities is Translate Message, which allows users to instantly translate chats with just a tap. Whether communicating with international friends, colleagues, or businesses, language barriers can now be overcome more easily.
Users can also access ChatGPT through a dedicated contact and tab within Viber. This allows them to ask questions, brainstorm ideas, get recommendations, or complete everyday tasks without needing a separate app. No ChatGPT account is required to get started, although users can log in or create one for higher usage limits.
Users can now also tag @ChatGPT directly in private or group chats to get suggestions, answers, and recommendations that everyone in the conversation can see and discuss.
Creativity also gets a boost with Image Remix, powered by ChatGPT Images. Users can edit photos, apply different styles, and transform ordinary images into personalized creations using built-in templates. To use this feature, users simply need to connect or create a free ChatGPT account within Viber.
Other productivity-focused tools include Link Summary, which quickly highlights the key points of articles, blog posts, and documents shared in chats, and Chat Summary, which generates private recaps of busy conversations to help users catch up on important discussions and action items.
Meanwhile, the Polish Messages feature helps users refine the tone and clarity of messages before sending them, making it easier to craft professional, friendly, or thoughtful responses.
Rakuten Viber said privacy remains a priority. End-to-end encryption continues to protect core messaging features, while only the specific content users choose to process through AI tools is securely shared with OpenAI. Users also stay in control when they use an AI feature, and their explicit consent to OpenAI’s terms and policies is required before their first use.
