Spotify has officially begun rolling out Lossless audio for Premium subscribers, bringing the highest quality streaming experience to music lovers.
Long anticipated by fans, Lossless allows listeners to stream tracks in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, capturing greater detail across nearly every song on the platform.
Premium users will receive a notification once Lossless becomes available. Whether exploring new releases or revisiting old favorites, this feature ensures listeners can hear music as it was meant to be heard.
Spotify offers custom settings for Wi-Fi, cellular, and downloads, letting users choose between Low, Normal, High, Very High, and now Lossless quality, with data usage clearly indicated.
Lossless is available across mobile, desktop, and tablet apps, and on devices supporting Spotify Connect, including Sony, Bose, Samsung, and Sennheiser, with support for additional devices like Sonos and Amazon coming soon.
To enable Lossless, users can go to their profile, access Settings & Privacy → Media Quality, and select where you want to enable lossless audio (Wi-Fi, cellular, downloads). The indicator will appear in the Now Playing view and Connect Picker. Note that you’ll need to enable Lossless manually on each device.
Spotify recommends streaming Lossless over Wi-Fi using wired headphones or speakers for optimal experience, as Bluetooth currently cannot transmit the full bandwidth required for true Lossless playback.
Lossless is rolling out gradually to more than 50 markets through October. Premium subscribers in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK have already started to get access.
