SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena has been recognized as the “Sports Venue of the Year” at the 6th Philippine Sports Tourism Awards.

This recognition highlights the arena’s significant role in attracting major sporting events to the Philippines and solidifying its position as a leader in Philippine sports tourism.

Since opening in 2012, SM MOA Arena has hosted a range of high-profile events, including NBA Global Games between the Indiana Pacers and the Houston Rockets, FIBA Asia Championships, the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the International Premier Tennis League, and the UFC Fight Night in 2015.

Locally, the arena consistently serves as the venue for major local sporting leagues such as the UAAP, NCAA, PBA, and PVL, and even esports tournaments for popular games like Dota 2 and Mobile Legends.

In 2023, SM MOA Arena hosted the FIBA Basketball World Cup and the Volleyball Nations League, further solidifying its status as a world-class sporting venue. These high-profile events, combined with the arena’s consistent hosting of world-class tournaments, cemented its status as the premier venue in the country, earning the Sports Venue of the Year award.

The arena has invested $4.5 million in upgrades over the past four years, including improvements to its LED screens, lighting, seating, and sound acoustics.

This year, SM MOA Arena will host the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers and serve as a key venue for the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
