SM Cinema is giving Filipino movie fans a whole new way to experience films with the launch of the country’s first-ever SCREENX theater at SM Mall of Asia.
In partnership with global cinema innovators CJ 4DPLEX, SM is bringing a format that doesn’t just show movies—it surrounds you with them.
Instead of watching on just one big screen, SCREENX uses a 270-degree panoramic setup that extends the movie onto the theater’s side walls. The result? You feel like you’re inside the scene—surrounded by sweeping visuals, bigger moments, and a whole lot more excitement.
Present at the launch were key leaders from SM and CJ 4DPLEX, including SM Supermalls President Steven Tan, SM Engineering Design and Dev’t Corporation President Hans “Chico” Sy Jr., CJ 4DPLEX CEO Don Savant, CJ 4DPLEX APAC Managing Director Jamil Valiyev, and SM Cinema Senior AVP Karen Zabaljauregui.
To make the debut even more special, Wicked: For Good—the much-awaited sequel to the hit film starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo—will be the first movie to hit the SCREENX format in the Philippines. Tickets are now available for P700 via SM Cinema.
Fans can also look forward to upcoming SCREENX releases later this year, including Zootopia 2 and Avatar: Fire and Ash.
SREENX is located at the 2nd Level of the Entertainment Mall at SM Mall of Asia.
