Are you a STEM student who wants to use technology to improve lives?

Samsung is hosting its Solve For Tomorrow competition and is inviting public science high school students grades 8-10 to showcase their best innovative ideas.

Solve for Tomorrow is Samsung’s global program that aims to empower young innovators with opportunities to come up with ideas to solve societal challenges and be the drivers of positive change in their local communities.

Launched with the support of the Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Solve for Tomorrow is part of Samsung’s CSR vision of Together for Tomorrow! Enabling People. Its mission is simple: to empower and support the next generation to achieve their full potential and pioneer positive social changes.

Solve for Tomorrow is open to Grades 8-10 students of government-managed Science High Schools. Here’s how to join:

  1. Form a team of maximum four students each, and choose one faculty adviser from their respective schools.
  2. Teams formed should identify a local community / environmental sustainability problem they want to solve with technology.
  3. Come up with a design proposal presented via a slides presentation (5 slides max) or word document (2,500 words max).
  4. Submit your entry via the Solve for Tomorrow PH website. Deadline of entries is on November 3, 2023.

Entries will be evaluated based on design innovation, relevance to the community, feasibility, STEM integration, sustainability, and clarity of proposal.

The top 10 finalists will be announced on November 10. They will receive expert mentoring to improve their solutions and the chance to present their final proposals to the board of judges on November 24.

The Grand Prize winner will receive P650,00 worth of tablets and a TV for the school, P100,000 for the team members, P20,000 for the teacher, and Samsung phones and tablets for team members and their teacher. 

Second Prize winner will take home P350,000 worth of Samsung devices for the school, P75,000 for team members, P15,000 for the teacher, and Samsung phones and tablets for team members and their teacher. 

The Third Prize winner will receive P150,000 worth of Samsung devices for the school, P50,000 for team members, P8,000 for the teacher, and Samsung phones and tablets for team members and their teacher.

The rest of the top 10 will receive P15,000 for their team and P5,000 for their teacher.
