Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow returns to the Philippines for its fourth year, inviting young Filipino students to use science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to develop solutions to challenges in their communities.

Supported by the Department of Education (DepEd), the global competition is open to students in Grades 8 to 10 from government-managed Science High Schools across the country. Now in its 16th year globally, Solve for Tomorrow aims to give students a platform to turn ideas into practical solutions with meaningful community impact.

Teams of up to four students and one teacher-adviser can submit a STEM-focused proposal addressing a community, social change, or environmental sustainability challenge. Entries may be submitted in Word format of up to 3,000 words or seven pages, or PowerPoint format with a maximum of six slides. All submissions must be in PDF format and not exceed 40MB.

Students can explore three themes: Environmental Sustainability through Technology, which focuses on reusing and transforming materials to reduce waste; Social Change through Tech and Sport, which explores technology and sports as tools for education, entrepreneurship, and inclusion; and Solving Community Problems with AI, which challenges students to develop practical AI-powered solutions.

The deadline for submissions is November 2, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The Top 10 teams will be announced on November 16 and receive mentoring from a Samsung coach before presenting their final proposals to judges on December 7. The top three teams will be announced on December 15.

Samsung will award almost P2 million worth of prizes, including Samsung devices and cash. The Grand Prize package is valued at P730,000, followed by P595,000 for the Second Prize and P465,000 for the Third Prize. The remaining Top 10 teams will also receive cash prizes.

Since its Philippine launch in 2023, Solve for Tomorrow has highlighted student innovations such as a solar-powered water-quality sensing buoy for monitoring mangrove ecosystems, an egg-segregation solution, and a low-cost pest-control system for farmers.
