Global mobility and urban services platform inDrive has received official accreditation from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory LTFRB as a Transport Network Company (TNC), paving the way for the company to offer ride-hailing services officially in the country.

For the initial phase, inDrive will activate its application in five cities: Bacolod, Baguio, Iloilo City, Cagayan de Oro, and Butuan.

Before its official launch in the Philippines, InDrive is focusing on recruiting drivers. The company is currently running a driver registration campaign in the abovementioned cities until December 31.

Registered drivers will receive a fuel voucher worth $10. During the initial period, drivers can use the app without paying service fees when accepting rides.

InDrive sets itself apart from other ride-hailing apps by giving users more choices and control. Passengers can choose their preferred driver and propose a fare for their ride. Once a ride is confirmed, passengers see a list of available drivers and can choose based on preferences like rating, vehicle model, and estimated arrival time.

Similarly, drivers have the freedom to pick the most suitable rides. They can accept, decline, or make a counter-offer, without the risk of being penalized.

Unlike other mobility apps, inDrive’s fares are not dictated by an algorithm; the app thus provides greater transparency to both parties, giving passengers greater freedom of choice, and drivers greater control over their income.

For safety, inDrive offers features such as real-time sharing of GPS location and ride details with trusted contacts, a dedicated emergency button that connects users directly with law enforcement agencies, a chat function for communication between passengers and drivers, 24/7 support via in-app chat and email, and a stringent driver registration process.

inDrive has already established itself in three Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Globally, it operates in over 700 cities across 45 countries.
