HONOR Philippines opened the year with a high-impact reveal, officially introducing the HONOR X9d 5G on New Year’s Day and quickly capturing online attention for its bold durability message.
The smartphone’s toughness was put in the spotlight during the HONOR X9d 5G Ultra Defense Challenge held at WBS Studios in Pasig, where it was pitted against an unexpected contender—an all-steel Tesla Cybertruck.
The challenge was led by HONOR brand ambassadors Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto, who participated in and witnessed a series of extreme stress tests designed to demonstrate the device’s toughness. These included a slingshot hit, a three-meter throw, a cornhole shot, and a decibel test. The highlight of the challenge came during a dramatic car-pull runover, in which the Tesla Cybertruck was driven over the HONOR X9d 5G.
Despite the punishing trials, the smartphone emerged intact, reinforcing HONOR’s positioning of the X9d 5G as one of its toughest devices to date.
“[What] we did with the HONOR X9d 5G and the Tesla Cybertruck is just a preview of what’s to come. You should all watch [for] the grand launch this coming January 9,” said HONOR Philippines Vice President Stephen Cheng.
