
Globe successfully completed the Philippines’ first live pilot trial of 5G-Advanced—a breakthrough that brings next-generation wireless experiences closer to reality and cements the telco’s leadership in 5G innovation.
The pilot, held in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, moves Globe closer to deploying next-generation mobile technology capable of transforming both everyday digital activities and mission-critical enterprise applications.
In real-world conditions, Globe recorded a peak download throughput of ~2.5 Gbps, demonstrating how 5G-Advanced surpasses current 5G networks with faster speeds, lower latency, greater capacity, and enhanced reliability.
Powered by a 5G Stand-Alone (SA) network, the test integrated advanced features including Massive MIMO and three-carrier aggregation (3NRCA) for a combined 210 MHz bandwidth. Paired with a 5G-SA capable phone, the setup delivered a seamless user experience—enabling instant movie downloads, lag-free cloud gaming, and ultra-responsive applications.

Also known as 5.5G, 5G-Advanced is engineered to meet the demands of an increasingly connected world, supporting innovations like extended reality (XR), advanced industrial IoT, connected and autonomous vehicles, and AI-driven solutions.
Globally, the technology is still in its infancy.
