GCash users will soon be able to pay using their Visa or Mastercard debit and credit cards directly through the app, even if they have little or no wallet balance.

The feature, which is set to roll out this month, allows users to link their eligible Visa or Mastercard cards as a payment source for GCash transactions. Instead of cashing in before making a purchase, users can complete eligible in-store payments using a linked card when their GCash wallet balance is insufficient.

GCash said the update is designed to make cashless payments more convenient by reducing the need for manual cash-ins while giving users more flexibility in funding everyday purchases.

Users can link up to three Visa or Mastercard debit or credit cards to a single GCash account. They will also be able to choose a default payment card, switch between linked cards, or remove them anytime through the app.

To help protect users, card linking requires one-time password (OTP) verification. Eligible transactions may also require biometric authentication or a phone PIN, depending on the device and security settings.
