The UMA Racing MMR Yamaha Philippines team is off to a challenging start in their quest to bring back the UB150 ARRC (Asia Road Racing Championship) crown to the country.

April King Mascardo, who is still battling the injury he sustained in practice for round one, came through in the qualifiers to start at 5th position on the grid. Gian Carlo Mauricio, who is still looking to find his footing in the ARRC, started at 20th.

After getting acclimated to a much-improved field of competition in round 1. The duo was better prepared for this next bout. For race 1, it was as close as it could get with no rider gaining a substantial lead throughout. But a nasty spill in the last lap on turn 15 took out half of the riders including Mascardo. Mauricio, who was spared from the massive spill, finished the race in 11th.

In race 2, it was evident that the racers were backing off in their aggression to avoid another nasty crash. Gian, who wanted to build off his recent finish, unfortunately bowed out of the race due to technical problems. The team would be anchored by April who wanted to avenge his DNF in the last race. He enjoyed a taste of the lead during the race but had to settle for 6th to end round 2 of the ARRC.

Round 3 of the ARRC is happening on June 24 to 25 in Japan.
