The start of the year has a way of filling calendars fast. Meetings return, errands stack up, and routines snap back into place. In the middle of all that movement, it’s often the smallest moments—paying for groceries, checking out online, tapping through a commute—that often determine whether the day feels effortless or exhausting.
This is where many EastWest cardholders are beginning to notice a difference.
Google Pay is now officially available in the Philippines, and EastWest is one of the first local banks to support the platform. EastWest Visa and Mastercard credit cardholders can add their cards to Google Wallet and pay using compatible Android and Wear OS devices—no physical card required.
That means instead of pulling out a wallet, payments now happen with a tap.
Everyday errands, simplified. A quick grocery stop no longer needs to turn into a waiting game. At contactless terminals, unlocking your phone and tapping it completes the transaction in seconds. It’s a small shift, but one that adds up during busy weeks.
Designed for life on the move. For commuters, convenience matters. The MRT-3’s tap-to-pay feature allows passengers to pay directly at the turnstile using their phone. It’s a safer, lighter option for travel, keeping wallets tucked away while getting through stations quickly.
Google Wallet is built with security in mind, using tokenization so actual card details are never shared with merchants. It’s widely accepted in stores, apps, and online, making it a consistent payment option across different parts of the day.
By enabling Google Pay for its credit cards, EastWest continues its shift toward easier, modern, and mobile-friendly banking. More card products, including select debit cards, are expected to follow as Google Pay adoption grows in the country.
