Whether filming a vlog, recording an interview or shooting content outdoors, creators often have to deal with background noise and fluctuating sound levels. DJI’s new Mic Mini 2S introduces several upgrades aimed at tackling those challenges in a pocket-sized wireless microphone.
The Mic Mini 2S adds 32-bit float internal recording, which captures a wider range of sound levels. This helps preserve both quiet voices and louder audio while reducing the risk of distortion, giving users more flexibility when editing recordings.
Despite weighing just 12 grams, the transmitter packs 14.5GB of onboard storage, allowing users to record for up to 28 hours before older files are overwritten in loop mode. Recordings can be saved as unprocessed audio for editing or as ready-to-use files, and the transmitter can also be used independently as a portable voice recorder.
For recording in different environments, the Mic Mini 2S offers two levels of noise reduction. A lighter setting is intended for indoor spaces where background sounds such as fans or echoes are common, while a stronger mode helps suppress noise from wind, traffic and other outdoor distractions.
The microphone system is also built for longer shooting sessions. The transmitter can operate for up to 11 hours, while the receiver lasts up to 10 hours on a single charge. Together with the charging case, the system offers up to 40 hours of use, and a quick five-minute charge provides enough power for about an hour of recording.
The receiver can pair with as many as four transmitters at once, including select earlier DJI microphone models. It also supports direct Bluetooth connectivity with smartphones and works with compatible DJI cameras, with a maximum wireless range of up to 400 meters in ideal conditions.
The Mic Mini 2S has made its debut in China. DJI has not announced pricing or launch dates for international markets.
