Coins.ph just made everyday payments a whole lot easier with its new QRPh Stablecoin Payment feature, letting users pay with Philippine Pesos (PHP), supported stablecoins (USDT and USDC), or a mix of both—all in one smooth checkout.
The feature integrates stablecoins directly into QRPh, the national QR code standard developed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). QRPh enables customers to pay any participating merchant by scanning a single QR code, regardless of which bank or e-wallet they use. This eliminates the need for multiple QR codes at checkout and simplifies the payment experience for both buyers and sellers.
With this rollout, Coins.ph becomes the first e-wallet in the country to combine stablecoin functionality with QRPh. The feature is immediately usable across nearly 700,000 QRPh-enabled merchants nationwide—from neighborhood shops to large retail chains.
The update removes a common barrier in crypto payments: manual pre-conversion. Previously, users had to convert digital assets into pesos before making a purchase. Now, Coins.ph handles this automatically during checkout. Users can choose to pay entirely in pesos, fully in stablecoins, or use a combination if one balance is insufficient.
Stablecoins such as USDT and USDC are pegged 1:1 to the US dollar—offering the speed of cryptocurrency without the price volatility. During each transaction, the app provides real-time conversion rates for transparency before final confirmation.
Once confirmed, the system executes the conversion and the merchant transaction as part of one continuous journey. In case of an unsuccessfull transaction, funds are automatically reversed. Refunds are issued in PHP, regardless of the original payment method.
“By transforming crypto into a versatile tool for daily life, we are setting a new standard for national payments. As QRPh adoption in the Philippines surges, Coins.ph remains at the forefront, ensuring every Filipino has the power to choose how they store, grow, and now spend their digital assets,” said Wei Zhou, CEO of Coins.ph.
