Art transcends traditional boundaries as select art pieces merge with the futuristic realm of augmented reality.

SM Mall of Asia has partnered with the National Museum of the Philippines to create an AR exhibit of prominent Filipino artworks to be displayed within the MOA Complex.

The exhibit, called “ARt in MOA,” will run from June to August 2023, featuring a pop-up installation at Level 2 of the Main Mall, as well as QR codes placed in MOA, MOA Square, and S Maison.

By scanning the QR codes in display, mall goers will be able to see an image of a particular artwork from a selection of pieces curated by the Fine Arts division of the National Museum of the Philippines.

Some of the works included in the exhibit are Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo’s El Asesinato del Gobernador Bustamante, Juan Luna’s Spoliarium, Fernando Amorsolo’s Bataan, Ang Kiukok’s Ink Fish, and Guillermo Tolentino’s Lualhati.

The exhibit aims to bring Filipino masterpieces to a wider audience via digitization. SM Mall of Asia hopes this will help the general public better appreciate the rich and vibrant history of the country’s artworks and artists, and drive them to visit the National Museum to experience the entire collection.
