Aside from the iPhone SE 2022, Apple also announced a minor refresh of the iPad Air at its Peek Performance event.

Like the 2021 iPad Pro, the thin-and-light tablet is powered by Apple’s M1 chip. This, according to the tech giant, should deliver “a giant performance boost to even the most demanding apps and workflows, with incredible power efficiency and all-day battery life.”

The new iPad Air also supports 5G, while the USB-C port is up to twice as fast with 10Gbps of data transfer speeds.

Like its predecessor, the rear camera of the 5th-gen iPad Air has a resolution of 12 megapixels. However, its front-facing camera has been updated to use a 12MP sensor (up from 7MP last time), and now supports the company’s Center Stage feature that ensure you’re in the center of the frame during FaceTime calls.

The new iPad Air comes with a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display (2360 x 1640 @ 264ppi) with a peak brightness of 500 nits and HDR support.

It’s also compatible with the Apple Pencil (P7,990), Magic Keyboard (P16,990), and Smart Keyboard Folio (P9,990).

It’s available in Space Gray, Starlight, Pink, Purple, and Blue.

Here are the prices of the new iPad Air:

  • iPad Air 5th-gen 64GB Wi-Fi: P35,990
  • iPad Air 5th-gen 256GB Wi-Fi: P44,990
  • iPad Air 5th-gen 64GB Wi-Fi + Cellular: P44,990
  • iPad Air 5th-gen 256GB Wi-Fi + Cellular: P53,990

Like the iPhone SE, there’s no word yet on the iPad Air’s local availability.
