Wordle board game

The hit online puzzle Wordle is jumping from your phone screen to the board.

The New York Times, which purchased Wordle earlier this year, is partnering with global play and entertainment leader Hasbro to bring Wordle from the digital world to the physical one with Wordle: The Party Game.

Launching in North America for purchase in October, Wordle: The Party Game is designed to be played with multiple players or teams.

The gameplay will be similar to the online version: In each round, a player designated as the Wordle Host, writes down a Secret Word. The remaining players write their guesses for each round on a dry-erase board, and each player has six attempts to guess the five-letter-word. A privacy barrier and green and yellow squares are included in the box. These tiles are doled out by the host after each guess to tell players which letters they guessed correctly.

The fewer tries a player needs, the fewer points they score. In the end, the player with the fewest points at the end of the game wins.

The board game is now available for pre-order at www.wordlethepartygame.com.
