What does it mean to be a hero? It’s not just about capes and costumes; some people embody heroism in remarkable ways. Christopher Reeve, the iconic actor who brought Superman to life, was one such person. His inspiring journey from Hollywood star to a symbol of resilience and advocacy is explored in the new documentary, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.
Warner Bros. Pictures has released the trailer for the upcoming documentary, which explores the life and legacy of the iconic actor.
From his early days as an unknown actor to his rise as a Hollywood superstar, Christopher Reeve’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. His portrayal of Superman in four films—beginning with 1978’s Superman—set a new standard for superhero cinema, and his charismatic performance cemented his status as the definitive Man of Steel.
Reeve played dozens of other roles that displayed his talent and range as an actor, before being injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. After becoming a quadriplegic, he emerged as a passionate advocate for disability rights and a tireless leader in the search for a cure for spinal cord injuries.
Directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story offers an intimate look at Reeve’s life through never-before-seen home movies, personal archives, as well as the first extended interviews ever filmed with Reeve’s three children about their father, and interviews with the A-list Hollywood actors who were Reeve’s colleagues and friends. The film is a moving and vivid cinematic telling of Reeve’s remarkable story.
Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, distributed in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Pictures, will be shown in cinemas on October 16.
