UBX, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aboitiz-backed UnionBank and the Philippines’ driver of digital transformation in the Philippines, has partnered with health maintenance organization (HMO) company MediCard Philippines, Inc. to democratize healthcare and offer greater convenience to MediCard members.
Under the partnership, MediCard will utilize UBX’s end-to-end payment gateway, BUx, allowing members to pay for their premiums through various channels, including online banking, credit/debit cards, e-wallets, and even over-the-counter transactions at over 50,000 touchpoints, including pawnshops, department stores, and rural banks.
UBX’s Splix, an “insure-now-pay-later” solution, adds another layer of flexibility. Members can opt for this service to manage their finances without sacrificing healthcare.
“Our strategic alliance with UBX allows us to accelerate our goal of bridging the healthcare gap in the Philippines,” MediCard Chief Executive Officer Julian Mengual said.
