Sony has made its mid-gen console refresh official—and it comes with a hefty price tag.
The Sony PlayStation 5 Pro is a superpowered version of the console featuring an upgraded GPU with 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory than the current PS5, enabling 45% faster rendering.
Gamers can also look forward to advanced ray tracing capabilities, with Sony boasting that the PS5 Pro’s GPU can cast rays at double to triple the speed of the original PS5, allowing for more realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections.
Sony has also incorporated AI into the PlayStation 5 Pro with its in-house Spectral Super Resolution technology. This AI-driven image upscaling solution promises to deliver sharper and more detailed visuals than competing technologies like AMD’s FSR and NVIDIA’s DLSS.
Other features of the PlayStation 5 Pro include Wi-Fi 7, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), 8K support, 60Hz and 120Hz support, frame rates of up to 120 fps, and PS5 Pro Game Boost for enhanced performance and resolution of existing PS4 and PS5 titles.
The PS5 Pro will hit shelves on November 7 with a recommended retail price of $699.99 (~P39,900). The console will come with a 2TB solid-state drive and a DualSense wireless controller.
