PLDT Enterprise, in partnership with the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), is expanding its Smart Carts initiative to empower Filipino micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Launched in September 2024, the program has already benefited 12 MSMEs and will continue its expansion this year.

The Smart Carts program provides MSMEs with essential digital tools, including Smart Retailer Kits and Maya digital payment solutions, to enhance their operations and reach a wider customer base.

“By collaborating with DTI, we are creating opportunities for MSMEs to expand their reach and enhance their operations,” said Chet Alviz, VP and Head of Enterprise Marketing at PLDT Enterprise.

“The Smart Carts symbolize more than just economic support—they represent our joint mission to equip, train, and connect MSMEs with the resources and knowledge they need to thrive in today’s competitive market. This initiative embodies the spirit of shared growth and sustainability,” shared Esther O. Santos, President of the PLDT-Smart Foundation.

The partnership with DTI is key to successfully implementing the program and providing the necessary training and education to beneficiaries. DTI will help endorse and distribute Smart Carts to priority regions, giving local entrepreneurs essential resources.

Recently, four MSMEs in the National Capital Region received Smart Carts: Naredo Twister Fries, Fely’s Boneless Lechon, Bee Blessings, and El Biko Kakanin/Triple E Food and Beverage Station.

The Smart Carts initiative also offers comprehensive support to MSMEs through the Equip, Train, and Connect (ETC) framework. Beneficiaries receive training on business strategies, marketing, and financial management, empowering them to make informed decisions and sustain their enterprises.
