From mobile gaming to video streaming, Ilonggos can now enjoy life at 5G speed as Smart rolled out its first 5G Standalone (SA) network in Iloilo City.
The event was marked by a free concert that drew more than 5,200 attendees at the K-Town Festive Walk Parade on August 30.
Also known as True 5G, the SA network runs on a dedicated 5G core network, enabling faster speeds, lower latency, and higher capacity.
Alongside the launch, Smart rolled out major network upgrades to expand 5G coverage and capacity across Iloilo City.

With the theme “Sakses Ka Na!”, Smart energized the crowd with performances from homegrown bands Kreonz and First Edition, rising Ilonggo beatmaker DJ Young, and rap star Flow G. Hosts Jackie Gonzaga and Jordan Toledo further livened the evening with interactive games and giveaways.
Throughout the event, Smart showcased how 5G SA delivers superfast uploads and downloads, buffer-free streaming, and lag-free gaming. To make upgrading easier, the company offered exclusive deals on 5G-ready smartphones HONOR, OPPO, Samsung, vivo, and ZTE.

Smart’s rollout of its 5G SA network in Iloilo City is the first in the country, and is part of PLDT Group’s nationwide effort to upgrade digital infrastructure.
