Chinese automotive brand Omoda is slated to enter the Philippines this year, and among the first vehicles it will be launching is the Omoda 5 EV.

The tech-oriented Omoda 5 EV will be equipped with advanced features such as a 16-function Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes front collision avoidance, front departure reminder, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and blind spot detection, among others.

It will also come with a 360-degree-view camera and a heads-up display—all projected through two 10.25-inch screens on the dash.

Cabin amenities include driver and passenger seats power adjustment, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker Sony sound system, three USB ports, two power outlets, and a wireless charging pad for mobile phones.

The Omoda 5 EV will be powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with a liquid-cooled system. Power output is estimated at 150kW and around 400Nm of torque. Range of the fully charged vehicle will yield 300-450kms. An AC/DC charging module comes standard with the car, along with a portable 220V charger.

Pricing of the Omoda 5 EV is expected to be very competitive since it will enjoy the benefits of the Philippine government’s tax exemption program for electric vehicles.

The Omoda 5 EV is scheduled to be launched by the last quarter of this year, along with the Omoda and Jaecoo brand launch.
