The award-winning Kia EV6, which was first previewed in the country at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show last year, has officially been launched.

The introduction of the fully electric vehicle to the local market underscores Kia’s pledge to become a sustainable mobility solutions provider and Ayala Corporation’s commitment to become a net zero emitter of greenhouse gases by 2050.

As Kia’s exclusive Philippine distributor, Ayala has rolled out an EV charging system network to strengthen its ecosystem. “We made sure to put the charging architecture in place long before the arrival of the EV6,” said Ayala Corporation President and CEO Bong Consing. “Our strategically located charging stations are proof of our commitment to electrification.”

The EV6 is Kia’s first car to be based on the company’s dedicated new platform for battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Its 77.4kWh battery generates 226hp and 350Nm of torque, and has a 528km of all-electric range.

Kia says the battery casing has an IP66 rating, making it resistant to large water splashes. In the unlikely event of water intrusion, the EV6 will automatically shut off the EV system if water exposure is beyond safety standards.

For added peace of mind, Kia Philippines assures that it has all the tools and EV6-specific equipment to address any concerns.

A recipient of the 5-Star Euro NCAP rating, the EV6 boasts of safety features including forward collision-avoidance assist with junction turning detection, blind spot detection and monitor, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping & following assist technology, smart cruise control with stop and go, safe exit assist, and 360-view monitor.

The Kia EV6 GT-Line is priced at P3,788,000. This includes a portable charger; 5 years/160,000km vehicle warranty and 8 years/160,000km HV battery system warranty, whichever comes first; 5 years of free preventive maintenance service; and 5 years of free 24/7 roadside assistance.

Customers can choose from five colors: Moonscape, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Yacht Blue, and Aurora Black Pearl.

The EV6 will initially be available at Kia New Manila in Quezon City, Kia Alabang in Muntinlupa, Kia Sto. Tomas in Batangas, and Kia Pampanga. It will eventually be available at all 42 Kia dealers nationwide.
