IKEA‘s latest speaker is a rechargeable, portable, and weather-proof lantern-shaped thing known as Vappeby.
Designed to help people bring music outdoors, the Vappeby speaker is splash-resistant and is the first Bluetooth speaker with Spotify Tap on the market.
Spotify Tap—which has mainly featured on headphones so far, like the Sony LinkBuds and Bose QuietComfort Earbuds—lets you start or carry on listening just by tapping a button, rather than opening the app on your phone and selecting your music. By tapping the power button on the Vappeby, you will automatically pick up Spotify playback from wherever you left off. If you press it again, Spotify will generate new music suggestions based on your listening habits.
It also works with other streaming services or audio stored locally on the connected device.
The Vappeby delivers 360-degree sound and comes with built-in LED bulb with two different light modes, an IP65 dust- and water splash resistance rating, and up to 12 hours of battery life.
Available in blue and grey, the Vappeby is priced at $64.99. As of writing, we haven’t spotted it yet on IKEA Philippines’ online store.
